Valedictorian
I was selected as the valedictorian for my school. As the graduation representative, I had the honor of delivering a speech during the commencement.
Student -- HGSH (National Hsinchu Girls' Senior High School
During my transition from junior high to senior high school in Taiwan, I achieved a score that ranks me 923 out of 15320 on the entrance exam, placing me in the 93nd percentile (PR93). This allowed me to fulfill the first-choice preference and attend high school in Hsinchu City, a renowned hub for intellectuals in Taiwan. Hsinchu is recognized for its Science Park, home to globally recognized companies like TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd.), MTK (MediaTek Inc.), ITRI (Industrial Technology Research Institute). I had been in HGSH (National Hsinchu Girls' Senior High School), an esteemed institution with a remarkable history spanning 97 years. Considering that Taiwan itself has a history of only 112 years, HGSH holds a significant position in the educational landscape. What I learned there and the friends I made there built me a stronger person, sculpted me a person who has abilities playing different roles.
Standing Committee on School Council
I have the honor of being selected as the class representative for two consecutive years in high school. The School Council, composed of class representatives, served to convey students' ideas and concerns to the school administration. As class representatives, our responsibilities extended beyond mere representation. We actively participated in organizing various large-scale events. Notable events I organized included the school carnival, class performances during the school anniversary celebration, collaborative activities between different classes, and the creation of class uniforms.
The most significant one I want to mention is my selection as an executive committee member of the School Council when I am an 11th -grader. As an executive committee member, my primary role involved handling proposals brought forward by the class representatives and overseeing the functioning of the school's administrative units. The presence of executive committee members aimed to bridge the gap between students' needs and the administration's operations, ensuring a school environment more attuned to students' needs.
Vice Director of Hsinchu Girl Senior High School Information Science Club
I joined the Hsinchu Girl Senior High School Information Science Club (HGISC) in my high school years, an academic club focused on teaching C++ programming skills. Our primary target audience for instruction was the freshmen (10th-grade students), and the main instructors were the seniors (11th-grade students). We had structured teaching sessions every Wednesday afternoon, and we also dedicated time after school on Tuesdays to discuss programming-related questions.
During my 10th-grade year, I acquired numerous competitive programming skills through active participation in the club. In my 11th-grade year, I was selected as the vice director of the club. As the vice director, my responsibilities included organizing teaching materials, compiling assessments for the freshmen, arranging events in collaboration with other relevant clubs between our school and other schools, and maintaining communication with national-level computer science education organizations. This allowed us to access more learning resources and facilitated academic exchanges with other individuals and organizations.
