2024 VEX Robotics World Championship

As the sole female member and team leader, our team encountered numerous challenges during this competition at the World Championships. Apart from facing the expected hurdles of long-distance travel and logistical issues, we dedicated extra effort to managing finances and personnel. Despite these obstacles, we ultimately received a Create Award.

Meeting everyone at the World Championships has been a delightful experience, deepening my understanding of global perspectives through communication and interaction. Although we fell short of reaching the Dome, our commitment to the process was abiding. This journey was particularly memorable for me as it coincided with my 18th birthday, which I celebrated aboard the plane during our nearly 15-hour flight.

Throughout our time at the competition, I found inspiration in the resilience and camaraderie of my team members, learning valuable lessons in teamwork and perseverance. While the road to success may have been challenging, the bonds forged and lessons learned along the way are invaluable. As we return home, I carry with me not only the Create Award but also a wealth of experiences and memories that will shape my future endeavors.

2024 Asia Pacific Championship

We received the Excellence Award in this competition, which is basically the highest honor.

One thing that made this competition particularly special was that it was the Asian Championship, where we encountered many teams from China. Their robots were incredibly agile and fast, worthy of our study. After this competition, we decided to build a robot similar to those from China and engage in practice matches with our own robot.

The most interesting part of the competition, apart from the matches, was the interview. In the first round, we were asked about cross-strait exchanges. This was the final question of the interview, one we hadn't practiced before. To be honest, it's a relatively sensitive topic, but I believe the focus should be on the exchange of technology and culture. Different viewpoints shouldn't stop us from learning from each other.

2023 US Open

After the Taiwan Open, although we didn't get first place, our impressive performance earned us an invitation to participate in the US Open in Iowa. There, among 180 teams, we excelled and achieved fifth place. Throughout this journey, we encountered numerous challenges, such as the deformation of the machine's structure during transportation, flight delays and eventual cancellations due to huge storms, and difficulties in finding suitable accommodation. When we arrived, instead of resting, we worked overnight to repair the structure and gave the program some fine-tuning in order to compensate for structural problems. Through our team's relentless efforts throughout the night, we managed to restore most of the machine to its original state. I truly gained a lot from our fifth-place finish.

2022 Taiwan Open

It wasn't until the summer before my sophomore year in high school that I was introduced to VEX robotics. I can't help but feel like I discovered the world of robotics a bit late, but since then, I have fully immersed myself in it. Besides attending our team's weekly meetings religiously, I also make it a point to dedicate my after-school hours to practice and improve my skills. Within the team, my primary responsibilities revolve around organizing work schedules, writing code, and keeping engineering notes. While my focus lies in programming and managing our time effectively, my strong command of English has also led me to take charge of our engineering notebook. I'm proud to say that the engineering notebook I compiled earned us the Judge Award at the Taiwan Open. As we venture into this season, I hold the same expectations for our engineering notebook and its impact on our performance.
